Discover Wentworth Castle Gardens
Take some time out and enjoy the fresh air this winter at Wentworth Castle Gardens. The gardens were created
for the privileged few but are now preserved for everyone to enjoy all year round. With gardens and miles of parkland to explore, you can keep the whole family happy, including four legged friends*.
You’ll find fun things to do across the site, pick up a ‘50 things to do before you’re 113⁄4’ challenge card and tick off as many as you can, including rolling down a really big hill and finding your way with a map on the daily Explorer Orienteering trail. Wander into the parkland to discover the secret den building woods nestled amongst
the trees and friendly herd of deer.
Make the most of this special outdoor place by visiting the fairy-tale-like ‘ancient ruins’ of Stainborough Castle as well as the maze-like Union Jack Garden and Lady Lucy’s Walk. Finish your visit off with a trip to the Long Barn café for a warm drink and a slice of cake.
Want to learn more about the history of the gardens? Join our volunteers every month as they open up archives and dig a little deeper into our history. Plus, if you are looking to
do something a little different this Easter why not try our geocaching activity, which is a digital take on the more traditional treasure hunt.
The gardens and parkland are open Monday to Sunday, 10am–3.30pm until 1 March. Then from 2 March, 10am–5pm. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing. Car parking is included in the admission price.
