The QEGS Community
Our community prides itself on its caring, friendly and supportive atmosphere, with each boy individually known.
Our excellent pastoral system underpins the school community, providing an invaluable contribution to life at QEGS.
A boy’s time at QEGS should be as enjoyable
and as productive as possible. All staff take their responsibilities for pastoral care very seriously and play a key role, providing support and guidance.
Often the rst point of contact is the Form Tutor who monitors not only a pupil’s progress academically, but also socially within the QEGS community. Heads of Year support the Form Tutors and oversee all aspects of a pupil’s school career.
The pupils’ Induction Programme begins once a place is accepted. During the Summer Term, the Head of Year 7 visits all feeder schools to meet individual boys and discuss their move to QEGS.
This is supported by an Induction Day and two
New Parents’ Evenings. Within weeks of starting
their QEGS career, Year 7 boys go on a three-day residential. Filled with fresh air, outdoor adventure and fun — it is the perfect opportunity for team-building and ‘getting to know’ fellow pupils and teachers.
The School Medical Team, with its own full-time Matron, caters for each pupil’s individual needs and concerns.
Our specialist Learning Support team brings the best out of our bright boys who experience learning dif culties, i.e. Dyslexia, offering bespoke one-to-one support in all aspects of study including organisation and revision techniques.
Pupils of all ages have the opportunity to share
their views on a range of school issues, enhancing relationships between pupils and teaching staff and, in turn, strengthening the sense of belonging within the school community.
