There have been many attempts to
Featuring recreate the Christmas fervour for the
The Pops Three Tenors second time in the year. In the Northern
Emma Kavanagh Hemisphere, it gives retailers a chance
Voices of Birralee to have sales, tapping into the Christmas
Toowoomba Contemporary spending spree. Here in Australia, it is
Choral more about nostalgia for those who
spent Christmas as a child during winter.
Cold days and snowy nights around a
fireplace with family and friends,
enjoying feasts of hot roast meats and
plum puddings dripping in brandy sauce
and custard. Rooms filled with the smell
of pine needles and the sound of carols
being sung around the piano. Piles of
presents waiting to be opened with
young and old faces full of hope and
excitement.
The Queensland Pops Orchestra invites
you to venture back to that place as we
present Christmas In July. It may not
snow, but it will not be hot and humid.
Patrick Pickett has put together a
concert full of music from around the
world that celebrates all the good things
about the Christmas season.
Our very own Three Tenors will sing
traditional and popular Christmas songs.
Emma Kavanagh also returns to our
stage with her delightful soprano voice.
If a bonus Christmas feast of the musical
variety sounds like your thing – call it an
‘extra’ celebration – then dig out your
winter woollies and join Patrick Pickett
and the Queensland Pops Orchestra
(who love any excuse for a party) for a
fabulous Yuletide knees up with all your
favourite Christmas trimmings!
