P. 70
My one regret is having to leave my home church in Brampton, with
all my brothers and sisters in Christ, and not being able to find a church
here yet. But with summer coming, with God’s help, I hope to find one.
My God is truly a prayer-answering God.
One evening in the spring, my daughter Rosie and I went to the mall to
pick up a few things. Because my eyes were not working as they
should, we held hands while we walked. It’s about a twenty-minute
walk. All was going fine. We had a very good time walking, chatting,
and laughing, but when it was time to head home, I forgot that we didn’t
drive, so I was looking to see where we had parked—only for Rosie to
remind me we didn’t drive and to start walking.
Suddenly, I felt so tired, I just wanted to sit down somewhere. I said to
her, “I am sitting here until Donovan,” that’s her husband, “finishes
working; I will call him to pick me up,” and we just laughed. The reason
we laughed, you see, he worked downtown in Toronto, and we live in
Whitby. Usually, he never gets home until sometimes after 7 PM. But
this evening was special—the Lord was on our side.
We crossed the street and kept walking. Suddenly, we heard a car
honking—very rare to hear a car honking on the street. Sure enough,
we looked and it was Donovan; he left work early, even got stuck in
traffic, just for us to meet up at the right place at the same time. I tell
you, my God is faithful. I haven’t walked that far again, but up to this
point, it has been a wonderful stay.
