If you want to add any images to your book you can feel free to

use any images you already own or find royalty-free images on

the hundreds of locations across the web. Here is where I’m

going to share with you a cautionary tale.

You may be tempted to simply Google the type of images you’re

looking for and download them directly from Google. Let me

warn you against this. I made this exact mistake 10 years ago

and posted an image of a Home Depot store on one of my own

               websites.

Everything was fine for several years, until one day when I got a

certified letter from an attorney who threatened to sue my

company for $50,000 for copyright infringement. Much to my

surprise that the Home Depot image I downloaded was under

copyright by the photographer who took the photo and I was

breaking the law by using the image without paying for the right

               to do so.

If I’d only paid the $3 for the rights to use that photo in the first

place instead of just downloading it from Google I’d be in the

clear, but I didn’t and had to go through a lengthy back and forth

                                                                                                           50
