RADICAL LOVE
The emerging, end-times Bride of Christ will be Spirit-filled and will
communicate with those she meets using the redemptive lips of grace
and mercy. Her mouth will be, as Scripture suggests, an oasis—
bringing life to those the Lord brings across her path. When she is
reviled and insulted by others, she will not retaliate, but will instead
respond in a way that is pleasing to Him. He tells us in His Word to
respond gently even to those who oppose us (see 2 Timothy 2:24).
As we submit ourselves to the Lord, He will transform us so that what
is now being said of the Shulamite can also apply to us. Please God!
We now come to the second half of verse 3 (TPT):
“…What pleasure you bring to me! I see your blushing cheeks opened
like the halves of a pomegranate, showing through your veil of tender
meekness.”
The Bridegroom-King continues with even more words of love,
delight, and affirmation. The Shulamite is so overwhelmed by the depth
of His esteem for her that it causes her to blush. When a person blushes,
it is an indication that their heart is racing, making the blood flow faster.
She is so enthralled and thrilled by His words that it is causing passion
and desire for Him to rise within her.
My prayer for all of us in the Body of Christ is that we would sincerely
know and experience this outrageous, indefinable love for ourselves.
“Her cheeks are open like the halves of a pomegranate…”
