He also instructs her to amuse herself by feeding the kids at the tents of
the shepherds. The kids are people who are open but not yet born
again—all those yet to be converted by God’s grace into true sheep.
They are the unsaved, and our mission is to allow God to work through
us and transform these goat kids into sheep.
This task can actually be great fun! We need to allow the Holy Spirit to
take the self-effort of “works” from us and joyfully watch what He
does through us as we follow His leading.
The final part of this verse talks about the shepherds’ tents. In the book
of Jeremiah 3:15 (NIV), the Lord makes a promise: “And I will give
you shepherds after My own heart, who will guide you with knowledge
and understanding.” These are the shepherds and churches we should
recommend or lead others to—those who truly love Jesus and know he
truly loves them. Those who, as their Good Shepherd has done, will lay
their lives down for their sheep.
