Henna can also mean “atonement” or “redeeming grace,” and the

vineyards of En Gedi are purported to have yielded some of the most
fragrant blooms in the land of Israel. The word En Gedi actually means

“Fountain of the Lamb,” and it is from this precious, most costly
fountain that we drink in the source of all true life—which is our

Beloved Jesus.

Spending time with Jesus opens our hearts more and more to the
astounding beauty and all-sufficiency of the One who has our absolute

best interests at heart and who will always—without exception—be
faithful and true to us.

The last line of verse 14 (NIV) says: “… I held him and would not let

him go…”

And this is the response that every true believer in Jesus should expect.

She has seen the price He paid for her. She has experienced the
goodness of God and realises that apart from Him, everything else pales

into insignificance.

In verse 15, after her declaration devotion, the Shepherd King addresses

the Shulamite as He sees her. She is beauty itself to Him, and she is

lovely.

Is this how we think Jesus sees us? If not, then we need to ask Him to

allow us to experience His true feelings toward us—because His Word
is truth. My prayer for all of us on the Shulamite journey is that God

would reveal His heart of love and passion for each one.
