MyRide Sevier County
LIVE-IT Sevier County is a local non-profit organization with an established track record of using volunteers to meet needs for low-income and aged citizens in Sevier County.
LIVE-IT has been working closely with the Office on Aging in Sevier County to assist seniors in need with services ranging from minor home repairs to household organization and decluttering to establish a safer living environment.
The East TN senior volunteer transportation programs created the East TN Region Steering Committee to share ideas and provide support to new and existing programs. Steering committee members conducted a site-visit with the leadership of LIVE-IT in Sevier County to discuss the possibility of beginning a new program. Following the meeting, the committee voted to move forward with a partnership between LIVE-IT Sevier and East Tennessee AAAD to create another East Tennessee SVTN Program. Software and training was put into place; LIVE-IT Sevier County conducted its first ride in April 2019.
MyRide Sevier County – Rider Spotlight
Doris was the first MyRide Sevier County member and she has already used the program more than any other member. Doris’ first ride was to the county health department.
Doris had recently been released from her doctor’s care due to missing too many appointments; those missed appointments were caused by a lack of transportation. And, because
Doris had not been able to get to her doctor appointments
for several months, she was out of her medications and desperately needed to get her prescriptions renewed.
Terri, a MyRide Sevier County volunteer, called Doris’ doctor and explained the new MyRide Sevier County program and asked if they would take Doris back as a patient now that she had reliable transportation. The doctor agreed and Doris was able to be seen
quickly and get back on her medications.
