Legacy Partners
Legacy Partners are defined as senior volunteer transportation programs that were already providing rides in Tennessee prior to the SeniorTrust/ElderTrust grant. The grant’s adminisrative organization, Southwest Tennessee Development District, is fortunate to have five of these Legacy Partners participating in the grant who have been instrumental in helping establish the new programs in the expanding Senior Volunteer Transportation Network in Tennessee.
These Legacy Partners are all well-known and recognized within their local communities for providing reliable, accessible, affordable, and safe transportation. While each partner has utilized differing methods of providing volunteer senior transportation, common to each is the personalized, door-through-door service they provide to older adults who need more “hands-on” assistance.
Each legacy partner program was developed with strong community input and forged strategic partnerships in order to build a successful model that would meet the needs of its particular senior population. These legacy partners provide technical assistance to new programs as requested, provide a representative to the SVTN Coalition, and are working to increase their volunteers and number of trips by 30% over the three year grant period.
