MyRide Northwest TN - Gibson County
In January 2019, the Northwest Area Agency on Aging and Disability (NWAAAD) officially launched their first volunteer transportation program in Gibson County. Since the launch of their program, they have provided over 70 trips and utilized ten trained volunteers. Even though this type of program is new to the area, there has been a wonderful response from people needing the service and good feedback from those who have already utilized this service.
As with most volunteer transportation programs, Gibson County charges a small membership fee. The planning committee of Gibson County decided to keep that cost small and affordable at just $25/year. There is also a per ride cost of $2 for each round trip. If more than one stop is needed on a trip, there is a $1 fee added for each additional stop (up to 3 total).
The NWAAAD MyRide program is operated by the Northwest Tennessee Development District (NWTDD). John Bucy is the Executive Director of the NWTDD and Susan Hill is the Director of the NWAAAD. The office is located at 124 Weldon Drive; Martin, TN, 38237 and they can be reached at 731-587- 4213 or toll free at 1-800-750-6866.
