• Pre-Emergent: Assuming your pre-emergent was applied in March, you should be good for a while with the extended pre-emergent control. If you missed it in March, apply a Pre-Emergent to prevent weed germination. Make sure no new seed has been sown.
• Post-Emergent: Not only are all lawns now active, but so are all weeds. Apply a Post-Emergent for weeds that are up and active.
• Insect Control: Now is the time to control fleas and ticks. Apply an insecticide to control a wide variety of insects, included but not limited to, fleas, ticks, chiggers, ants, spiders and many more. Protect your family and your pets!
Tree and Shrub Care
• Water your landscape as needed. 1” of water per week is ideal.
• Inspect Your Landscape: The first step in controlling any pest is to first identify the pest.
• Insect Control: Apply a systemic insecticide. A systemic insecticide is absorbed by the
plant foliage or through the roots and becomes lethal in a few weeks once translocated throughout the plant. It is common to take 30 to 60 days before the insecticide is effective in the plant. April systemic applications are great for preventative maintenance as upcoming infestations are likely. An example would be pressure from insects, such as aphids and Japanese beetles.
• Disease Control: With huge potential temperature and environmental changes, ornamentals are now very susceptible to insect and disease pressure. Inspect your landscape for insect pressure.
