College Recommendation Letters

Do you even need one? Many colleges do not require a recommendation

letter. CHECK requirements before asking a teacher.
If required, colleges prefer letters from teachers. They want to know how

you preform in the classroom - not always a letter from your counselor.

Communicate with your recommender before submitting a request - don’t
just assume they will say yes.

Complete the Brag Sheet to help those writing a recommendation letter to

make it the best one possible! You will need to share information about
yourself, your activities, plans for the future, experiences. etc.

Click on your initials at the top corner of your Naviance page -- select

SURVEYS FROM YOUR SCHOOL.

Click MC SENIOR BRAG SHEET FOR LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION.

Save your answers often ... The survey doesn't automatically save your

progress and will time out after about 15-20 minutes. You can return to the
survey as often as needed. Tip: Type your answers in another document

and paste your answers into the survey.

Only answer questions that apply to you ... you do not have to answer all 24
questions if they don’t apply to you. The first 6 are mandatory ... but for the

remaining questions, select the ones you feel will help your recommender

write the best letter possible.
Now you need to submit your request to your recommender. Click on

COLLEGES then LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

Type in your teachers' name(s) and submit a request.
