Virtual Engagement
Embracing the Digital World
Innovative and creative, Workforce Initiatives colleagues did not let COVID-19 impede their vigorous outreach to partners. Programming became a virtual event. Since the onset of the coronavirus epidemic, Workforce Initiatives teams have initiated more than 200 virtual events, locally and nationally. Several virtual events attracted hundreds of participants across the country.
NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP MEETING
The Inaugural National Partnership Meeting was live streamed on June 1, 2020. Along with existing partners, many new partners participated in the opening session. The agenda, “How will you influence change” focused on three outcomes—exploration of national partnership opportunities with CVS Health; inspiring strategic collaboration among workforce development stakeholders; and fostering innovative workforce solutions that impact the communities we serve. Five breakout sessions were provided that addressed specific demographics served by CVS Health. These were designed not
only to showcase how Workforce Initiatives is serving a diverse community, but examples of how partners can become involved in comprehensive programming. The response by attendees was overwhelmingly positive with 93% of respondents stating that they would attend again.
Abilities in Abundance Session
Led by Stacey Butler and Duane Rohr, attendees joined a roundtable discussion where experts discussed the skills building
and current outlook on the state of employment for persons with disabilities.
Adult Workforce Session: Tackling the Barriers to Employment
Jon DaSilva moderated a panel discussion addressing barriers to employment for adults. The CVS Health team and a panel of experts delved into some of the common barriers and examined how their organizations are helping to overcome this issue.
Military Alliances Session
Melanie Kramer and Jon White led the session presenting the wide array of CVS Health career training and opportunities for transitioning service members and their families. Also, an examination of the many national resources available to assist veterans in post-service career pursuits was offered.
Youth Breakout: myCVS Journey
Two interactive panel discussions were moderated by Amanda Tierney and Ted Mower
• The impact of health and wellness on today’s youth • Traditional and new-collar career pathways
Mature Worker: Talent is Ageless
Mature workers are the fastest growing labor pool with a growing mature customer base. The business case for hiring mature workers is strong. Lena Barkley led the session along with a team of panelists discussing “Unleashing the Power of Mature Workers.”
