Joana Lisboa
Sr. Consultant, CVS Health Workforce Initiatives 2020 Engagement Team Leader
“Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want.” This quote by Ken Poirot author of Mentor Me, captures the essence of Workforce Initiatives Colleague Engagement journey for
2020. Our theme, Promoting a Culture of Colleague Engagement, reflects the collective work and commitment of our leaders, colleagues and engagement team to help make CVS Health “The Best Place to Work.”
The results of our annual, company-wide Colleague Engagement Survey provided valuable feedback that helped us establish a clear direction and creative solutions to address specific needs and opportunities to improve engagement
and maximize our successes. We committed
to implementing a collaborative and inclusive engagement plan that empowers colleagues
to make the changes they would like to see. By gaining leadership involvement and line ownership of their teams, we were able to drive change and improve team engagement through continuous learning, enhanced communication and collaborative efforts.
In light of the COVID 19 pandemic, and the social justice issues facing our country, WI moved forward with resilience, embracing our purpose, new virtual workplaces, engagement action plans, priorities, and supportive relationships within our workplace and family. We successfully encouraged self-care and exercise through daily Fit On group exercises. We offered useful training resources (Develop U) and continuous learning opportunities. Through open communication and feedback,
we also leveraged Fireside Chats to listen, understand and address cross cultural issues and
demonstrated empathy towards others. As a team we were able to effectively foster communication and collaboration within the workplace by adapting to a new virtual communication platform to keep our teams connected. We improved the work environment by providing opportunities for team members to share perspectives and participate in Motivational Mondays to inspire the best in all of us.
As we reflect on 2020, I am truly grateful to serve in the role of Engagement Team leader. This vital work was carried out by a talented team who helped promote the culture of engagement and maintain their focus and momentum throughout the year. Our team included Lena Barkley, Adriana Giddings, Tami Hutchins-Nunez, and Kally Wilson, as well
as Olivia Lang’s leadership as Engagement Team Advisor. Together we had the experience, passion, energy and enthusiasm needed for success. As a team, we would like to acknowledge the visionary leadership of Senior Director, Ernie Dupont, and our previous engagement teams that led before us... laying a groundwork for organizational change and a culture of engagement.
The outlook for 2021 is positive and we look forward to continuing our efforts of engagement by building upon the diverse talents and core strengths of our team. Colleague Engagement
is fluid and ever-changing. We welcome and are actively seeking new ideas, experiences to share, continuous learning and thought leadership. Awareness of the importance of engagement is essential and we will continue to help make CVS Health “The Best Place to Work” for the future
of our company and health of our community at large.
