coming invasion, putting our petty differences aside, then they
will lend their considerable power to our aid. Do you

"Yes. I understand." Said the U. S. President in a soft whisper.

"The day has come. I understand." Said the Russian President
in broken English.

"I don't think you do." Began Trash. "This is not like any
enemy you have seen before. They cannot come and attack

you with weapons blaring because there are powerful ancient
neutral cultures in this galaxy that would squash them if they
did. We should not fear open aggression. This enemy disguises
themselves and comes to your planet to divide and conquer.
They pretend to be Earthers and prop up dictators. They arm
rebellions. They take over religions and pervert them. They
create pockets of obscene greed. They infiltrate governments

and push nationalism. They foster racism. They do everything
possible to disrupt the harmony of mankind. They make the
people of Earth destroy themselves."

"Once a planet is on the brink of such a disaster, the enemy
