1. 您在哪年参加 CASA？
我是第一届历史原班人马之一。2002 年在纽约的一家中餐
馆。

2. 您认为几十年来麻醉最大的改变/进步是什么？您对未来
预期？
In the past 20 years, more and more anesthesia I performed
were outsider operating room. They post a lot more challenge
to anesthesia providers. CRNAs are more popular. Pretty soon
they will take over 50% off from Anesthesiologist job. Right
now, almost every single institution or private practices employ
at least 50% of CRNA. In the next 10 years, I think AI （人工

智能）will play a significant role in our work. From preop,
intro op, post op. Smart anesthesia machine (like smart phone) will replace some of our work.
Robotic intubation is being developed but very slow comparing with human intubation. Robotic
phlebotomist has been utilized in some hospital. They are 24/7, tirelessly, no overtime or
holiday off. Be ready! Brace for impact.

3. 如果没有做麻醉，或者重新选择，这辈子您会做什么？
I probably would still choose anesthesiology as my job. My work provided me a lot of
satisfaction.

4. 现在的 hobby, 愿意分享的照片，疫情后打算去哪
里旅游？
My hobby is Sailing for now. I want to spend 1 to 2
years get better. After Covid, I would like to visit Antarctic,
see northern lights, back to Africa.

5. 遇到过最有意思的病例？
One of my unforgettable case was A hip fracture
case under general anesthesia with ETT. Pt was a
retired cardiologist. He aspired during the case. Apologized daily for 5 days. Three months later
he asked surgeon to pass on a message to me. The message was “Dr. Tao is a good doctor.”

6. 您曾去过中国医院访问或教学，您认为两国麻醉最大的区别是什么？

I visited a couple of the hospitals in Beijing, and I found out that even mastectomy was
performed and her epidural anesthesia. It was amazing. 中国医生门的手非常巧！非常麻利。
