Chapter 1: An Intuitive Experience
On Thursday, September 7, 2017, Hurricane Irma was on her way to visit us in Florida. All the weather experts, both national and local, kept predicting where, when and how powerful.
First, Irma was going to travel up the east coast of Florida. There was the European model and the American model. Then a consensus model of all the models saying she was still headed up the east coast.
The European model began to predict a move farther west, eventually suggesting a move up the west coast of Florida.
We were watching closely because we live on a key on the west coast of Florida. If she detoured up the west coast, we were in trouble.
As Irma approached, local weather forecasters predicted 100 mph winds on our key with a 5-foot to 8-foot surge on our shores.
At first there was a recommended evacuation, but as Irma approached, it went to a mandatory evacuation for our key by Saturday morning.
Obviously, this is the type of choice that I’d been writing about as I completed my book: Your Leader Within.
Should we leave or stay?
This was a good example of a critical life decision where I needed an answer from within.
By Saturday morning, our key was nearly vacant. As I took my 5 p.m. daily walk, it was a ghost island. No cars, no people, no movement.
I had a choice to stay or go and asked my inner guide: “Orion, what can we expect if we stay?”
The answer was immediate and clear – so clear, I sent it to a friend in Atlanta when he asked about our situation.
“You will experience 50 mph winds with a 3-foot surge. The surge will not be any worse than a previous tropical storm surge. You will also experience the loss of electricity for three days.”
