Chapter 2: The Sacred Gift
Again, Einstein said it so well (paraphrased):
“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift. The rational mind a loyal servant. Our culture honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”
I interviewed more than 75 people for my original book Your Leader Within.
Nearly all of those people described some kind of intuitive, sometimes even psychic, experience that involved getting information that seemed to come from a source that could not be categorized as rational thinking.
My conclusion, after writing the book, is that Einstein was right.
Connecting with your intuition will make life easier, more exciting, more fun, more fulfilling. You have access to an intelligence that knows the truth – not for others – for you.
Think about going through a day with constant direction from your internal intelligence.
To some, that might be a complete turn-off.
“I don’t want direction from an unknown source.” some might say.
Or,
“I had enough direction from my parents growing up. Why would I want more direction for my life?”
The good news is that, once you learn to connect with your intuition, it’s up to you to ask for the level of direction you desire and when you desire it.
Ideally, your internal guide becomes your leader and you follow, not blindly, but with more and more trust over time.
For example, Lieutenant General James King, when a company commander in Vietnam, would constantly ask his intuition (his relationship to God) for decisions regarding whether and when to put his soldiers in harm’s way.
