This means an individual is primarily aware of what is going on the inside (introvert) or the outside of themselves (extrovert).
The MBTI assigns letters for each personality style. For example, a person with an ISTJ profile would tend to be an introvert who receives input primarily from their senses and processes information through their thinking function.
This does not mean this is the only way such a person receives and processes input, but it is the usual and predominant way.
Chapter 9: Exercises for Guidance, provides a very simple and quick MBTI Type Indicator if you’re curious about whether or not intuition is your primary input function.
A very simple way to test your intuitive inclination is to choose between these two descriptions:
If you are practical and realistic and most comfortable dealing in the here and now, “the real world.” If you’re a person who likes to keep both feet on the ground in your daily life, you are probably an S or Sensor as your primary input function.
