Omni
It is ideal for recording
natural voices, such as in
choir, or meetings. Omni
means everything in
Latin and such
microphone records
voices all around equally
well.
Cardioid
It is well-designed to
record an interview in the
street or noisy
environment, since a
heart shape effect will
record voice only from the
side of the interviewee
standing in front of you.
Eight shape
This microphone will
record voice exceptionally
from front and back, but
the sounds on the side will be
more muted.
