HOW DOES XYLITOL WORK?
Since most bacteria cannot metabolise xylitol, they are unable to
produce the acids and biofilm that they make in the presence of
other sugars. Numerous studies show that xylitol use may reduce
tooth decay rates both in high-risk groups (those naturally prone
to tooth decay, as well as those with poor nutrition and poor oral
hygiene), and in low-risk groups (those less prone to tooth decay).
Xylitol appears to be particularly effective in improving the oral
health in children.
