Meaningful Learning
Greetings to all!
Here we are in the midst of a global pandemic but trying to brave through and
reach the shores of a new education system. The changes that we saw have been
overwhelming. Change is the only inevitable constant feature in our lives and we
witness a drastic shift in our learning methods too. Rote learning has given way
to inquiry- based, discussion- based, discovery- based and analysis-based learning.
Experiential learning has encouraged students to engage in more of projects,
debates, role- plays, quizzes etc. Rote memorization has a crippling effect on the
developing brain and creates robots rather than individuals. In this fast-evolving
society, students need to be well versed with their chosen domain of knowledge
with an in-depth understanding of the basics. Students need to be leaders and not
followers. Follow your passion but think for yourselves and reach the same
conclusion in different ways or even better, explore a different solution altogether.
So, strive for excellence and build a deep understanding rather than accepting the
textbook version of the answer without questioning the method. Let us all work
together to build a society which has a perfect balance of artists, poets, scientists,
technicians and coders. A well-rounded society is what we need. So, ignite your
flame of curiosity and enlighten the world.
