Flagella Stain
• Flagella staining is a specific staining technique used to visualize

bacterial flagella
• It helps in identifying the presence, number, and arrangement of

flagella on bacterial cells.
• A specific flagella stain, such as Leifson’s or Gram’s flagella stain, is

applied. These stains typically involve a mordant (which enhances the
staining effect) followed by a dye that binds to the flagella.
