Village To Village Charitable Trust is a social enterprise based in Marlborough. We
support local RSE (Recognised Seasonal Employer) workers into micro-
entrepreneurship to improve economic sustainability through financial literacy and
small business training, mentorship, and interest-free loans to start a business. It is
based on the principle of communities helping communities, giving back to the
Pacific Island communities who give so much to our primary industries such as
viticulture and horticulture. Our vision is ‘Changing lives in the Pacific’ – by improving
financial resilience we create a sustainability, including climate resilience. We have
COMMUNITY IMPACT FINALIST developed strategic public/private partnerships and a scalable not -for profit
sponsorship model that will allow us to grow the impact from our Marlborough base
of 3000 RSE workers, to a national reach of up to 19,000 RSE workers annually.
These partnerships include Vakameasina/MFAT, ANZ, KIVA and our foundation
sponsor Cloudy Bay Vineyards. We also fund community initiatives to improve living
standards and social equity such as providing clean energy solar-powered
cookstoves to replace harmful open fire cooking, and supporting the Fred Hollows
Foundation. Our pay-it-forward model means that as business loans are repaid, they
can be recycled into new micro-enterprises, creating further impact.
AWWA is a period care brand that deeply reflects the relationship and connections
between oneself, the environment, and planet. AWWA’s products help people all
around the globe to manage their monthly cycles with confidence and connection
without the negative impact associated with single-use period products. AWWA lives
and breathes inclusivity for all who menstruate or experience minor bladder
weakness. AWWA is rooted by Indigenous traditions that celebrate ikura (Māori
SUSTAINABILITY WINNER translation for period) and aim to reconnect this growing community to traditional
wisdom and practices that are equally relevant in today’s world. Co-founder Michele
(Tainui, Ngati Paoa) holds a powerful voice for wāhine in Aotearoa, celebrating ikura
and the connection between menstruation, whakapapa and to the whenua, as well
as being an active advocate to end period poverty in Aotearoa. Co-founder Kylie is
the driving force of AWWA’s sustainability programme. A qualified social worker,
Kylie is passionate about helping others bring about positive change in their lives.
She’s worked primarily with young offenders and their whānau so has seen firsthand
the impact that poverty, and period poverty, can have on young people and their
ability to effectively engage in education or work.
