Endeavour Hosts Annual “Girls to Women Night”
On March 7th, Endeavor Elementary hosted its annual “Girls to Women Night,” designed to inspire, uplift, and encourage Endeavour’s female students to be persistent in following their dreams and to never give up. More than 200 Endeavour moms, daughters, staff, and volunteers from the Church at Viera attended the event, where Cocoa native Neodasha Harris, event coordinator for
the City of Cocoa and Endeavour alumni, was the guest speaker. While in Mrs. McCoy’s 4th grade class, Ms. Harris would often get in trouble for sketching dress designs on her assignments, not realizing that art was her calling and she would turn into her career. At the age of 11, she was gifted a sewing machine and those sketches were brought to life. She credits her secondary teachers, Ms. Harrison (McNair Magnet School) and Mrs. Theresa Thomas (Rockledge High School), as well as her mother, for encouraging her to follow and pursue her dream of becoming a fashion designer. They each taught her unique techniques, which are used in her designs today.
Ms. Harris is a graduate of Florida State University where she earned three Bachelor’s Degrees in clothing,
textiles, and merchandising. She even had the opportunity to work with one of her college professors to design and create a costume for Janet Jackson.
Ms. Harris owns her own business, Neodasha’s House of Fashion, where she creates one-of-a-kind, custom clothing. She enjoys working with youth and teaching them the importance of pursuing their dreams.
