                  Astronaut High and West Shore Jr./Sr. High
Astronaut High and West Shore students traveled to Orlando for the Florida Scholastic Press Association convention. More than 1,300 students from all over the state who are part of their schools’ yearbook, newspaper, TV production and literacy magazine staffs gathered at
the convention to expand their communication skills. Callie Williams, a journalism teacher at Astronaut High in Titusville, joined her staff at the event and is the FSPA District 3 director. Gianni Valenti and Anna Wilder, students from West Shore in Melbourne, also participated in the event. Valenti served as the convention chairperson and Wilder is the District 3 representative. Broadcast students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland attended and were honored

  Melbourne High
Melbourne High’s Pride of Mel-Hi
Marching Band performed in the annual National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, D.C. April 14. The school was one of only 13 bands from across the nation selected to participate. The students also had an opportunity to visit national landmarks and learn about the country’s history.

Bayside High
 After advancing through two phases of online competition, Bayside High’s JROTC Academic Team will compete in person at the Championship event in Washington, DC, June 22-26. The team from Palm Bay earned top scores out of more than 170 teams that competed from around the world and is one of only eight teams in the nation to advance to the finals. During the two fast-paced preliminary rounds, students were tested on their knowledge of JROTC curriculum, English, Math and Science. The winners of this competition will compete against the winners from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force JROTC Academic Bowls in the JROTC Joint Service Academic Bowl Championship.
 Bayside High’s JROTC Academic Team will compete in National Academic Bowl in Washington, DC.
