How sports teams have done throughout the season and how they have improved.

Through a tough season, middle school basketball has finished strong with a win for the boys and playoffs for the girls.
On October 10th, the boys were getting ready to play their last game against Cocoa Beach. Coming back for a second try, they wanted to win. After an intense game of back and forth results, they pulled out a win of 42-36.
After pursuing a challenging season with all of the other competitive teams, they just got a win to finish off their season.
Also with a crazy and intense season, girl’s middle school basketball played eight amazing games that led them to playoffs! Winning 6 out of 8 games, they were sent to Jackson for the final showdown.
“I am very impressed with how far we have gone and how much we improved from day one. It was a such an accomplishment to make it to the playoffs,” said Catherine Zeek, 8.
At playoffs, after a hectic game of steals and rebounds, they lost by three. The final score was 37-40, but the team held their heads up high.
For Catherine, this is her first year playing the aggressive sport, but she has brought all of her defensive skills from lacrosse over and has learned to kill it in basketball as well.
“From the first game to the last one, the team has improved on so many levels. Including our communication, ball movement, and defensive positioning,” Zeek said.
While the girls may not have pulled off a win, they did make history as the first Edgewood girls middle school basketball team to make it to playoffs. The girls had a great opportunity to gain experience.

teammates,” Zeek said. “Playing basketball has given me an opportunity to make so many new friends and through this experience I have been able to make many great memories with my teammates.”
Next year, a new team will form with new and returning players to follow up the legacy this year’s players have created.
