Soccer
The soccer team is flying high this school year, rocketing their skills from last season and playing to the best of their ability. All of the players should be proud of their improvement and constant achievement!
The Girls JV team has improved much since the beginning of the season as they continue to advance. Before break, they defeated Titusville in a heap of scores, with a win of 8-0. Some of the amazing performances include freshman Caitlin Albergo’s 3 goals, 7th grader Gianna Lopez’s 2 goals, and 8th grader Bridget Black, 7th grader Chloe Payne, and 8th grader Abigail Tomberlin’s 1 goal each.
The Girls V team also continues the season with a win against Palm Bay, where before break they won in a triumph of 10-0. Some of their prodigious performances include 8th grader Andrea Toledo’s 3 goals and 8th grader Nina Lopez’s 2 goals.
The Boys JV team has also been on a streak of greatness as the season slowly ends, and before the break they pulled out a win in the tough game against Satellite. They won in a victory of 1-0.
The Boys V team also left for winter break on a good note, winning against Cocoa at a score of 3-0. Some of their best performances include sophomore Christian Guirgis’s 2 goals and junior Justin Janke’s 1 goal.
Evan Bolin, 9, plays on the V team and enjoys every minute of playing the sport he loves.
“I love soccer,” said Bolin. “The atmosphere on the team is good, we all want to win.”

Cheer
This year, our cheer squad is bringing back the spirit everywhere they go. They have been practicing once a week and continue to learn more stunts and tricks to put on a show.
Emily Bootz, 12, is Varsity cheer captain. She loves to be on the team and she loves the family it has created for her.
“The team atmosphere is super fun and energetic. We are always messing around with each other. We act like we’re all sisters,” Bootz said.
Bootz has been cheering since she was young, and she brought this enthusiasm when she started cheering for Edgewood.
“My love of cheerleading as a sport motivates me to be on the team. I have been in competitive cheerleading since I was seven years old,” Bootz said.
“The team feels like a second family.”
Another V captain on the squad is Holly Morris, 12, who loves to support the basketball team through cheers and stunts. She believes that practice is key in order to grow more as a team.
“Practice allows us to learn new stunts and cheers which we are able to perform at basketball games. Also, it allows time for us to bond and be able to work better as a team,” Morris said. “Everyone on the cheer team gets along with each other very well and the team feels like a second family.”
She says that she is motivated to be on the team by the support and spirit they inspire in Edgewood crowds.
“I enjoy getting the crowd more involved in the game and cheering on the basketball players while they play,” Morris said.
The cheer squad is essential at pep rallies and events in need of spirit funders. The cheer team continues to improve its skills, and will return to games next season with even more enthusiasm.
