Basketball
The season this year has been hard work for basketball players, and is now slowly coming to a close. They have not only persevered, but have improved and gained strength in comparison to last year.
Before winter break, the Boys JV team defeated Cocoa Beach through a thick battle of endurance, leaving the court with a dominating score of 57-33. The key performances included sophomore Nathan Rao’s, 16 points and freshman Lance Cook’s, 11 points.
Backing up the Boys JV team, Boys V have also left a win in the book against Parkhurst. Through an intense game of back-and-forth, they pulled out a victory of 61-56. The key performances included junior Justin Cook’s, amazing 30 points, senior Dustin Smith’s, 12 points, and senior Daniel Gearin’s 9 points.
The boys are perfecting their plays this season and have made sure to leave an impression on their past opponents, hoping to achieve higher than they ever have before.
The Girls JV team has also been excellent at their victorious games, leaving their opponents in shock with intense skill. Their improvement is evident as they continue to fly through the season.
“The atmosphere on our team is so positive and uplifting.”
The team played extraordinarily against Melbourne before break, quickly racking up points on the scoreboard. They ended the game triumphant with a score of 43-15 Some of the crazy performances include freshman Lindsey Angermeier’s heap of 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals; freshman Brooke Wolfington’s amazing 16 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals; followed by freshman Maddison Angel’s 6 points and 5 steals.
The Girls V team has also been improving from day one of the season. Team member Shelbee Clark, 12, an Edgewood Senior who is enjoying her last year playing, elaborated on the team’s great teamwork and ability to cooperate.
“The atmosphere on our team is so positive and uplifting,” Clark said. “We have been known to get compliments from other school’s coaches and admin that our team tends to keep a positive attitude and play with fun no matter what the score is.”
Clark argues that supporting one’s teammates is one of the most important things a player can do.
“To grow as a team, we will have to continue to constantly lift each other up and practice hard with each other, especially
on the court because you have to be able to trust that your teammate has your back,” Clark said.
All in all, the basketball team has done some amazing things this season and has grown so much from the last!
   Dance
This season the Arrowettes have been working very hard behind the scenes, improving with every practice.
Anastasia Cleano, 9, believes the team has become a family and bonded throughout the course of the season.
“The team is so much fun and I love being on it,” said Cleano. “We can all learn more about each other and really become close.”
Sophia White, 7, is new to the team. She said that the growth she has experienced since the beginning of the season has been striking.
“At the beginning of the year I couldn’t do a split at all, but now, I’m all the way down and I’ve learned how to do a triple pirouette,” said White.
These incredible dancers have been working all school year, performing and practicing for the competitions to take place in January. It is exciting to see what will happen to these talented dancers, known to be Edgewood legacies: Arrowettes.
