Reticulated pythons are the longest species of snake in the world—they can reach up to 20 ft. (6 m) in length in the wild
or almost as long as an average school bus! Reticulated means having a pattern of crossing lines, and this python lives up to its name with repeating black X’s on its back that make diamond- like patterns. They move slowly, but what they lack in speed they make up for in hunting skills. Like pit vipers, these snakes have pit organs to sense heat emitted by their prey, so they know just where to strike.
