Dance
The Edgewood Arrowettes have big goals for their performances. In order to realize their dreams and attend competitions, the dance team has been sponsoring many fundraisers, such as car washes and root beer floats.
“My overall goal for the end of the year is to go to nationals and place in the finals,” said dance team captain, Savanna Dribble, 11.
On January 20th, the dance team will be dancing in their first competition. The whole team has been working super hard and it’s paying off. Practicing 2-3 times a week, the team is looking great.
“We have generally been able to learn fast and pick up the choreography really quickly,” said Savanna Dribble.
A big part of being on the dance team is the camaraderie that develops between team members. These dance team girls all value their close-knit support group of friends on the team.
“I’ve grown a lot closer with not only my coach but with my teammates as well. There are a lot of new members this year and it has been so fun getting to know them,” said Savanna Dribble.
B asketball
The Girls Basketball team has just started their season! They are learning how to go with the pace of the game and incorporate what they have been learning at their practices to their games.
The girls basketball team has been learning so much at their practices and that has definitely shown in their games. they practice almost everyday to get themselves better and we are very proud of those girls. All of the players are very excited to play this year and very confident.
“We really hope to get some wins under our belt, but more important than that is improving on our game, just to make it better than it was every night,” said Brooke Anderson, 11.
Anderson thinks her team works very well together and she really appreciates the tenacity of their team against the teams they compete with. The girls are very confident and very hopeful this year to get some wins.
The team is showing great improvement day by day. Anderson states that winning feels good but even more importantly is improving the game. The girls played a great game against Satellite with a victory of (38-33).
“When difficulties come around during the season I try my best to stay positive and try to remember to have fun because I feel like that is what basketball and all sports are about,” said Molly Clark, 10.
Clark believes that all of her teammates are like her second family to her and thinks her team has come a long way with only 3 weeks of practice. They all work very well together and with all their teamwork they all can work hard to get wins in their games.
With all their enthusiasm, the players on the Girls Basketball team are sure to make Edgewood proud with their performance this season.
As the year progresses, the Arrowettes will continue to make memories and participate in local events. You can expect to see them perform in multiple halftime shows for the basketball team, and expect to hear good news about their competitions in January.
“This season I have learned teamwork and leadership.”
Cheer
We are E-D-G-E-W-O-O-D! The cheer team is showing school spirit and getting people in the stands pumped up.
“From this season, I’ve learned that you’ve got to work hard for what you want and that practice really does make perfect,” said Victoria Tavalochi, 8.
The cheer team has gotten many new participants this year who are excited to join the fun and spirit. The team hopes to cheer and pump up the stands to victory.
“By the end of this season, I hope to see the team grow stronger, so we can all come back next year even better,” stayed Tavalochi.
As the season progresses, the team will participate in many school functions, so make sure to show your appreciation for them.
