Educational Location Option (ELO)
In addition to the array of program opportunities, parents have the option to complete an ELO request for their student to attend a school outside their normal zoned school of attendance. A location option is based on a parent’s need to request a location change for their student, not a request for a specific program at the school. Sibling preference will be considered based on space and capacity.
Students who wish to attend a school other than their zoned school of attendance must submit an annual online ELO application during the identified timeline with a $30 non-refundable application fee. ELO applications are not required for students who wish to attend a program (Academy, Cambridge, Choice, CTE, International Baccalaureate or Magnet).
Not all of Brevard Public Schools are available for an ELO request. The list of schools “frozen” to an ELO is determined annually and is based on a school’s capacity (see School Board Policy 5120 and 7120 for more information). The list of schools “frozen” to and ELO request is available online at www.EIC.brevardschools.org
Parents and students who accept an ELO assignment enter into an agreement with the school, which can be revoked at any time for the following reasons: Poor attendance, inappropriate behavior, excessive tardiness or late pick-up after school of the student.
