inishing off the season with a hard-fought district final at Cocoa Beach against Viera’s girls lacrosse team, this year’s varsity lacrosse team had a phenomenal spring season. With an
impressive winning record of 13-2, the girl’s lacrosse team held their own and came out on top against major teams like Merritt Island and West Shore. Maya West, 11, was one of this year’s captains and led the team to great results, defying expectations.
“We did lose a lot of strong seniors, a lot of people didn’t think we would have as many dubs, but we ended up, in my opinion, doing better, beating some of the teams that we had a hard time beating last year,” West said.
Looking to the future, next year’s varsity lacrosse team is on track to be a strong, united unit, and after a long season, the team is going to be retiring three seniors.
“They’re [seniors] a huge part of our team, if they played a lot or not, we honestly wouldn’t be the same without them,” West said.

ompeting against larger high schools such as Satellite, Rockledge, and Astronaut, the high school track team had a memorable season. At the Cape Coast Conference meet,
both the girls and boys 4x800 relay teams had remarkable finishes. The girls team, composed of Margeaux Madeaux, Kari Baumhover, Kayln Sands, and Kaylee Kraver, placed fifth out of sixteen teams. The boys 4x800 team, composed of Johannes Reijm,12, Dylan Johnson,11/Theo Cox, 12, Josh Kraver,11, and Thomas Seward,12, placed third out of sixteen teams. This was not the only great finish that the boys 4x800 team had this season. They also placed fourth in the district meet which qualified them for Regionals. At Regionals they ran their hardest and recorded a new school record of eight minutes and seventeen seconds and placed fifth, qualifying them for States.
“I am really proud of my team for what we have accomplished. We are the first 4x800 team from Edgewood to make it to States,” Seward said.
Aside from the track events, Senior, Brady Menswar, had a great district meet as well. Participating in the triple jump portion of the field events, Brady placed fourth in District meet and qualified for the Regionals meet.
