                  What’s Cool in Schools
 Titusville and Astronaut High
Astronaut High and Titusville High welcomed
Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Mar n Luther King Jr., to their campuses. King visited the high schools, located in Titusville, to celebrate Black History Month, and share her message about civil rights and the King family legacy.

Tropical Elementary
Physicians and nurses from Health First’s Holmes Regional Medical Center’s Trauma Center made a special visit to Tropical Elementary in Merri  Island for a Teddy Bear “Boo Boo” Clinic.
The team brought teddy bears and medical supplies to teach more than 100  rst- and second-graders about  rst aid and injury
preven on. The
students also developed stories about their bear’s injuries and were able to keep the stu ed animals that they treated.
The Power People Lego team at Titusville’s Imperial Estates Elementary hosted the FIRST LEGO League Hydro Dynamics Challenge tournament for 16 Central Florida teams. The Titusville students and Power People coach Michelle Ardjewski teamed up with volunteers from their school and local high schools to put on the event. The challenge focused on a robot game, a project and core values. For the project, each team chose and researched a real-world problem a ec ng the human water cycle. Then, they created and presented innova ve solu ons. FIRST is a non-pro t organiza on dedicated to ge ng kids excited about science, technology, engineering and math. The program’s core values promote friendly compe  on and teamwork.
