Greetings from President & CEO, Ken Stein
2021 Board of Directors Dear Members:
Rob Bull To prepare to write this letter, I went back to look at the letter I
The Compass Group wrote in February 2020. Remember that month? For all intents and
Willa Burke purposes COVID-19 was in the world, but it wasn’t yet a thing in
Jujamcyn Theaters our lives and none of us were worried about a pandemic. If we
Shane Burkett were anxious about anything it was probably living through nine
Agile Ticketing Solutions, LLC more months of political ads.
Laura Corman
Educational Consultant Many of you were reporting that 2019 had been a record year
Christine Delaney at the box office. Some of you were making plans to undergo a
Tibbits Opera House major Capital Campaign to either enhance your historic theatre
Steven Ehrenberg or finally celebrate the grand reopening of a theatre that had
Ambassador Theatre Group / ATG North been dark. At the League, we were preparing for our Regional
America Conference in Boston. And we were excited about the National
Molly Fortune (Board Chair) Conference taking place in Cleveland. We had received over
Newberry Opera House 30 proposals for education sessions and were talking with several
Becky Hancock theatres for possible tours, including the magnificent theatres
Tennessee Theatre at Playhouse Square as well as the historic Karamu House,
Alycyn Keeling recognized as the oldest producing African American theatre in
Wallace Theater the nation.

DLR Group February 2020 seems almost forever ago. And yet, here we are in
Keith Marston February 2021. Many of us are still dark. Some Capital Campaigns
The Shubert Organization have continued while many have been postponed. Some of us
Randy McKay are slowly reopening while others are looking at re-opening nights
Carolina Theatre of Durham still many months away. But at least those darn political ads are
Maureen Patton done. It has been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad year.
The Grand 1894 Opera House But having you as a member of the League family this past year
was always a light in the darkness. Hang in there. We are almost
Michael Schnoering, FAIA through.
