Quality Standards as well as the American
carpet industry standards for performance
and long-term appearance retention? While
the lure for lower priced imported woven
carpets is often attractive, these carpets are
typically lower priced for a reason and it is
not cheap labor. Lead-based dyes, inferior
wool blends, jute backings and other critical
components directly related to the long-term
performance of the carpet are often com-
promised.
Replacing carpet is often seen as a neces-
sary evil. Carpet is expensive and can be
time-consuming to replace. On the other
hand, carpet enhances the aesthetic and
acoustical performance of any space. While
the process is often misunderstood, carpet-
ing should be viewed as a long-term invest-
ment. If constructed with the correct compo-
nents and process and installed by a carpet
installer that understands the complexity of
pattern carpet, this woven carpet investment
should last decades.
