following all COVID 19 protocols which include pre-screening checks, temperature scans, wearing
mask, maintaining social distancing, and frequent washing of hands. The District has been proactive and
continues to provide personal protective equipment, ADA accommodations, and onsite rapid COVID
testing for students and staff. The number of employees who have tested positive for COVID have not
changed since the last Board report. The District has offered security personnel, and substitute teachers
as well as student teachers to participate in receiving the COVID 19 vaccination.
National Employee Appreciation Day: March 5, 2021
Rich Township High School District 227 will celebrate all employees on National employee
appreciation day! All employees will receive a special treat from our Food Service Department.

University/Community Partnerships
Students that completed the fall 2021-22 Early College Program application with Prairie State College
are currently taking the ELA and Math Placement assessments. Students must place into English 101
and Math 112 in order to qualify for the Early College Program. Once students are identified,
mandatory parent orientation meetings will take place to explain the expectations and opportunities for
their children.
Working with Amazon and Seefried Properties, the Amazon facility is offering student experiences in
real estate management, robotics, architecture, engineering, material handling, and general contracting.
Students that are interested will be able to visit the site and experience the construction projects and
interact with the staff.
Curriculum
Working with the College Board, we have identified professional development focused on building an
AP program around equity and access. Our AP teachers will participate in 5 sessions which will create
goals and policies for the AP Program.
The district is working towards rebranding the curriculum handbook. We have identified key
components reflective of our current academy structure and will work throughout the semester to
develop a handbook that is informative and user-friendly for parents, students, and staff. The online
version will have interactive links for an enhanced experience.
The district is working with Loyola and SEPI to finalize the Education Pathway for our students. The
staff learned about the pathway and their potential involvement in the pathway. After surveying the
staff, there are 46 teachers interested in being involved as instructors and earning dual credit status.
Career Technical Education (CTE)

Working with District 163 and 159, we are piloting the career exploration software Major Clarity. 8

and 9 grade students will take a career interest and learning style assessment to find “best-fit”
careers. Professional development for staff and infrastructure set up will take place in March and will

officially launch for our students on March 22 .
