WINTER PRIMESTOCK SHOWS
155
He’s welcomed his share of success at the Welsh
Winter Fair but Tirion Griffiths achieved his best result
when he landed the Butchers’ Championship with a
duo of lambs that went on to stand Reserve Supreme.
They first headed up the 91kg to 97kg class on the Monday
before they nearly went all the way during the Championships
on the Tuesday. Reserve to them in the Butchers’ section was
the 86kg to 90kg pair from Robert Garth and Sarah Priestley.
A strong entry in the pure-bred Beltex class was headed up by
the pair from the Gittoes family, with other winners including
the Hall family with three red tickets, and both D Jerman and
H Jerman.
Megan Davies and Elliw Davies were Supreme Young Handlers
Champions with their pure-bred pair of Beltex lambs.
Clean sweep for Beltex-
sired lambs in the carcase
hall as they win every class
and claim the top awards
too. Supreme Champion
was an E3L entry from
Rebecca Armstrong that
weighed 38.6kg live and
21.7kg hung up. Reserve
and Best in Wales was
another E3L from Bryn
Davies which was 38.2kg
to 21.1kg while IT Davies &
Son was Reserve in Wales
with a E2 that was 33.6kg
to 19kg.
In the pairs a E3L duo from
Michael Carter won the
Champion ticket, they were
41.6kg to 23.6kg and
40.8kg to 23.1kg. Reserve
was Bryn Davies with a E3H
40kg to 22.3kg and a E3L
36.8kg to 20.6kg.
