WINTER PRIMESTOCK SHOWS
A strong turnout at the Royal Ulster Beef and Lamb Championship
saw the winning pair in the heavyweight Beltex-sired class from A
and J Carson go on to stand Reserve Supreme Butchers’ Pair.
Winning the lightweight class was a duo from Jack Maxwell while Jaden
McCutcheon won the Young Farmers class as well as Young Handlers.
ULSTER BEEF AND LAMB CHAMPIONSHIP 21 NOVEMBER
Father and daughter duo, John and Kirsty Guthrie, saw their untrimmed pair go on to claim the Butchers then
Overall Championship at LiveScot.
The pair, one of which was raised on the bottle, from the duo from Cuiltburn were by a home-bred Beltex ram and tapped out as
Champion by Andrew Morton. They went on to sell for £300 per head to Jame Stark Butchers.
The Guthries also won the lightweight Beltex-sired class while the Hall family from Inglewood Edge won the heavyweight Beltex
class, and Rachel and Cameron Baillie, Carstairs Mains, won the Young Breeders’ class.
The pedigree classes the evening before saw Hodge’s Jolene from James and Daniel Hodge win the MV Inter-breed Championship
having headed up the ewe lamb class, while an entry from Kenny O’Connor won the ram lamb class.
