WINTER PRIMESTOCK SHOWS
Austen and Michelle Lockyer had plenty to
celebrate at the South West Winter Fair when
they won the Champion ticket with their trio of
lambs as well as the Champion Carcase, all with
Beltex-sired entries.
Their winning three headed up the class for up to
142kg before selling for 776p per kg or £380 per head
to Stillmans of Taunton, with Beltex-sired lambs
featuring strongly in all the weight sections including
the Reserve Champions from Paul and Lin Calcraft
which sold for 523p or £298.
The Lockyers’ winning carcase which won the
heavyweight class for entries weighing more than
23kg, went on to sell to Ploughmans Farm Shop for
£240, while R and J Carter’s Reserve Champion made
£150.
