GREAT SALE FOR GYFFIN
A pair of shearling rams from Edward Cyril Lloyd Lewis and
his grandson, Alex Martin, broke the four-figure barrier at
the Welsh Beltex Club’s sale at Ruthin Farmers Mart on
Thursday, 7 September, when they sold for 1250gns and
1150gns.
Leading the way when knocked down to TA Davies, Bryn Eglwys,
Corwen, for 1250gns was Gyffin Hurricane, a Buckles Filthy Rich
sone bred from the Smart Ass Dark Horse-sired Gyffin Fairytale
of Wales from the flock near Llanrwst Road, Gyffin, Conwy. He
stood third in his class at the pre-sale show.
Selling to JB and E Evans, St Asaph Road, Bodelwyddan, Rhyl,
for 1150gns was another by the Buckles ram in the shape of
Gyffin Hot Spice which this time is out of Artnagullion Embrace,
a Tercrosset Blaze daughter.
The duo also saw their Reserve Female, Gyffin Habanero ET, sell
to G Briggs and Son, Wirswall, Whitchurch, for 650gns. She is
also out of the Artnagullion Embrace ewe but her sire is
Ardstewart Armani.
Next best at 820gns was Michael and Heulwen Owens’ Male
Champion and Reserve Supreme, Glantre Hulky ET, an
Artnagullion Dupe son from the flock near Pontsian, Llandysul.
Selling to JD Pierce, Llannefydd, Denbigh, his dam is the
Airyolland Sundance-bred Glantre Barbour.
The previous lot, Glantre Hensai ET, sold to JG and EV Roberts,
also from Llannefydd, for 750gns. Full of home breeding, he is
by Glantre Dyson and out of the Glantre Tywysog daughter,
Glantre Betty Boo.
Also selling for 750gns was the dearest from the non-MV section,
Geirn Ham Bone from Cennydd Owen. Reserve Male at the pre-
sale show, his sire is Geirn Frosty while his dam is Tercrosset
Edith, an Ardstewart Coyote daughter from the flock at Carmel,
Llanerchymedd, Ynys Mon. Forking out the cash on behalf of
another breeder was Gethian Mathias.
Judith Bevan saw her Coleshill Hugo from Holywell Road, Flint,
sell to GH Lloyd and Co, Chwilog, Pwllheli, for 650gns. This
Todhall Einstein son is out of Coleshill Chanel, herself by Glantre
Ammuni-tion.
Dafydd Owen’s Female and Supreme Champion, Smart Ass
Hooch ET, topped the female trade at 680gns. Bred from the
Ardstewart Aristocrat-sired Smart Ass Dream Girl from the flock
near Rowen, Conwy, she is by Langlands Epic.
Topping at 1250gns was Gyffin Hurricane from Edward Lewis
Hitting 820gns was the Reserve Champion, Glantre Hulky ET from
Michael and Heulwen Owens
Mr Lewis also welcomed 1150gns for Gyffin Hot Spice
