7 RELATIONSHIP OF THE SCHOOL WITH THE

7.1 Relationship/coordination with the Former Vice
Principal and Past Pupil

7.1.1 Relationship with Former Vice Principal - D.L.H. Upathissa

Mr. D.L.H. Upatissa, a former vice-principal, is a 71-year-old man with a wealth
of knowledge.

He has 1984 employees in Lellopitiya Sri Rahul College during 2013. During his
time, first about six hundred students studied and later the number of students

grew to nine hundred. Between 35-40 teachers have worked at that time. During
his time, this school has been able to take the first place in terms of productivity.
In addition, there have been many sporting achievements, music dramas, and

dances, and it has been possible to win fourth place in the All-Ceylon Drama
Music Wave.

He mentioned the history of the school as follows:

Lellopitiya Sri Rahula vidyalaya started a private school. Mr Levis
Thawalawaththa took the lead of the school. The name of the school was

"AKURU SHALAWA".

Then, the school was moved to a building on land donated by
Mr. U.A. Jayasinghe. The area of the land is 2 acres and 85 square meters. After
that, the primary building of size 60x20 was built with the help of the

government. Here the school was named Lellopitiya Vidyalaya. From 1959 this
school became a government-aided government school.

The computer sector started in 2010. Ranil Wickremesinghe has opened the two-
story building at the school.

Sir Saman Upadesha Sponsored the school. The total expenditure for home
sports is the total cost. There have been loudspeakers.
