2 SCHOOL HISTORY, LOCATION AND
UNIQUENESS
2.1 History of the School
❖ In 1951, a temporary hut was erected on a private land in Giri Liyadda road
and started as a private school. It was clear from the information revealed that
this land belongs to “Mr. Lewis Thawalwatta”, who took the initiative in
starting the school. The school has been maintained in a 60-foot-long shed
made of coconut fronds. This coconut frond shed was initially known as
"Akuru shalawa". To build this side hall, we have received much support from
the villagers. The list of coconut fronds and rafters can be pointed out as strong
proof.
