          Logistics Management




            Introduction
          The Department of Logistics Management at National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology was established
          in 1996 as the first university program in logistics management in Taiwan. The department has been offering a two-year
          BBA program accepting graduates of junior colleges since then. Subsequently the master’s program, executive MBA
          program, and Ph.D. program were offered in 1998, 1999, and 2001 respectively. In 2002, the department starts a four-
          year BBA program accepting applicants from both general and vocational senior high schools.

            Missions
          The Department of Logistics Management provides trainings in the technology and management skills needed to solve
          complex problems that arise in global operations and logistics management. Together with our innovative research and
          industry connections, we have created a unique learning environment that bridges the academia and industry. Almost
          every  industry  in  the  modern  economy  is  affected  by  the  trend  towards  globalization.  Given  the  rising  competitive
          conditions in business life, an excellent expertise in logistics can create great opportunities for firms. Especially, logistics
          has become the driving forces for growth in global trade. For this reason, we want to ensure an international perspective
          as part of the curriculum. To achieve this, we offer intensive English training courses and English competency is required
          for every student.

            Department Features
          The  Department  continues  to  build  excellence  and  expertise  in  every  functional  area  of  logistics  management  and
          develop  logistics  professionals  who  set  a  standard  of  high  performance  in  the  business  world.  Traditionally,
          transportation and warehousing constitute the foundation of logistics management. The Department combines these with
          procurement,  production,  distribution,  and  information,  to  form  our  core  curriculumwhich  emphasizes  logistics
          integration. In addition, the department also offers comprehensive electives in international business, business strategies,
          and  industry  policies.  The  innovative  core  curricum  and  comprehensive  electives  make  up  our  complete  business
          logistics education framework. Graduates from the department benefit from the high worth the business world places on
          our department.

            Career Directions
          Our  graduates  are  well-prepared  for  today’s  fast  changing  global  business  environment.  There  are  abundant  career
          opportunities and flexible career paths for our graduates – pursuing higher degrees in graduate schools, and working for
          various public and private organizations. Many students start meaningful careers immediately after graduation. Most of
          them work for major transportation service providers and hi-tech firms. Their functions include: Logistics Management,
          Global Logistics Management, International Business, Warehouse Management, Procurement Management, Maritime
          Operations  Management,  Air  Transportation  Management,  Freight  Forwarding,  Production  Management,  Quality
          Management, Logistics Information Management, Distribution Management.
          Some  of  the  employers  who  have  hired  our  graduates  include:  Advanced  Semiconductor  Engineering  Inc,  AU
          Optronics, Bureau of Transportation, Chi Mei Corp., Daily Air CORP., Dragonair, Eva Air, Fedex, Everygreen Marine
          Corp., Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp., Taiwan Power Company, Military.
