he action in The Descent 2 starts Twithin hours of the end of the
nail-biting climax to 2005’s The Descent, Neil Marshall’s hit British horror film about the
perils of caving in the Appalachians. This time round Marshall takes
more of a back seat as executive pro- ducer on the sequel, which marks
the feature directing debut of editor Jon Harris, whose credits include Stardust and Layer Cake as well as The Descent.
DP Sam McCurdy is also back from the first film together with some of the cast including Shauna Macdonald and Natalie Jackson Men- doza. Written by James Watkins, the
film is shooting in Surrey, Scotland and at Ealing Studios.

irector Stephen Frears, writer DChristopher Hampton and
actress Michelle Pfeiffer (pic- tured left), who worked to- gether 20 years ago on the
Oscar-winning Dangerous Liaisons, are re-united for some more period French mischief with Chéri.
Adapted from Colette’s novel set in the luxurious demi-monde of pre First World War Paris, Chéri co-stars Felicity Jones, Kathy Bates, Iben Hjejele and Rupert Friend in the title role.
Shot on Fujifilm by Darius Khondji, the production moved from Paris locations last month to complete filming on sound stages in MMC Studios in Cologne.
According to producer Bill Kenright: “Chéri has been a long time in gestation but we have now put together a first class team on both sides of the camera. I am confident we will have a stunning film with universal appeal.”
