BA Brief History of
Buckland Newton Place
Long Term Residents of Buckland Newton Place
Henry Ravenhill and his wife Emma remained at the vicarage until the early 20th century.
Records would suggest that throughout their long residence they had three servants living with them on the premises. The 1891 Census document for the house lists a cook, a house and parlour maid, and also a young lady described as an “under house maid”. (photo right)
1901 Census
The final Census document for Henry and Emma Ravenhill at the Holy RoodVicarage was in 1901.
As before a total of three servants were listed, which would seem to be a general theme at the vicarage throughout much of its 19th century and early 20th century history.
