t was a triple winner at Sundance Iback in January, including two Jury awards – for director Lee
Daniels and actress Mo’Nique –
and the prestigious Audience Award. Then, in September, Precious: Based On The Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire, won the 2009 Cadillac People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival, echoing the achievement of Slumdog Millionaire a year earlier.
Like Slumdog, this quite extraordinary tale of an overweight teen (Gabby Sidibe), pregnant with her second child while attempting to overcome her abusive childhood in Harlem, is also seen as a serious contender at both the upcoming Oscars and BAFTAs.
It was photographed on Fujifilm by Andrew Dunn BSC who has recently been shooting back-to-back assignments in the States also on Fujifilm – Extraordinary Measures, starring Harrison Ford, and, currently in Atlanta, Life As We Know It, with Katherine Heigl.

ujifilm’s new negative film, FETERNA Vivid 500T, was
officially launched at the end of September, to universal approval. Representatives from
the industry gathered at The Courthouse Hotel in central London to watch an exclusive screening of the new demo film shot by Phedon Papamichael ASC, Kramer Morganthau ASC and Dion
Beebe ASC, ACS.
The demo film is the perfect showcase for ETERNA Vivid 500T’s high contrast colours and crisp, deep inky blacks. This new addition to Fujifilm’s range provides punchy, vivid colours under multiple
challenging shooting conditions including night scenes. ETERNA Vivid 500T inherits its saturated colour, superior sharpness and excellent skin tones from the acclaimed ETERNA Vivid 160T. The new film provides a seamless match with the ETERNA Vivid 160T.
ETERNA Vivid 500T is available now in 35mm Type 8547 in 400ft and 1000ft rolls and in 16mm Type 8647 in 100ft and 400ft rolls.
