This year’s 4th bfm International Film Festival runs from September 6-15 and provides the backdrop for the inaugural bfm Film and Television Awards, the first and only annual cele- bration of achievement in black world cinema and television.
The bfm Awards ceremony will be hosted by Brenda Emmanus and will feature the cream of black British film and TV talent alongside stars from across the globe such as actress Pam Grier (Coffy, Sheba Baby, Jackie Brown) who will be presented with the 2002 Lifetime Achievement Award.
As well as recognising established talent, the inclusion in the festival of the Short Film Awards will create a higher profile for emerging talent with- in the industry.
Fujifilm are sponsoring the Best Director Award with the donation of film stock which will be used to make a promotional advert for next year’s festival. ■
