to date. Set in the Fifties, it tells the story of Ip Man, perhaps best known in martial arts circles as the trainer of one-time kung fu king, Bruce Lee.
Kar-wai’s 10th feature – and his first since 2007’s My Blueberry Nights, which also marked his US debut – actually started production towards the end of 2009.
Reasons for various delays have been availability of casting and, reportedly, an injury to leading man, Tony Leung, a Kar-wai regular,
who plays Ip Man, not to mention the 52-year-old director’s own meticulous shooting methods.
